Curtin University Colombo Welcomes February 2026 Intake with Inspiring Orientation Week
Curtin University Colombo successfully hosted its Orientation Week for the February 2026 intake, welcoming new students with a series of engaging sessions and celebrations.
The program commenced with an inauguration ceremony, featuring a welcome address by Prof. Mahesha Kapurubandara (Vice President – International) and an introduction to student life by Mr. Uditha Gamage (COO). Guest speaker Mr. Santhush Weeraman delivered a motivational keynote titled “Chase Your Dreams. Be Bold, Be You,” inspiring freshers to embrace their academic journey with confidence.
Throughout the week, students participated in academic and professional development sessions, including:

- Walking the Curtin Path: A Student Experience That Lasts a Lifetime – Mr. Ashen Perera (Alumni)
- Digital Essentials: Introduction to OASIS & Blackboard – CCSG

- Professional Conduct & Grooming Essentials – Mr. Mikail (Hameedia)
- Library Skills – Ms. Chathuranga
- Wellbeing at Curtin – Ms. Rasini Bandara
- Alumni Career Stories – Mr. Kusan Edirisinghe
The week concluded with Freshers’ Friday, a vibrant celebration of student creativity and community. Clubs showcased their talents — from the Food Club’s waffles and drinks to the Crafters Club’s handmade creations, alongside live music and dance performances. The evening ended with freshers taking over the dance floor, marking a memorable start to their Curtin journey.
