At Curtin, being part of a global university means having access to more than a world-class education. It means being connected to people who are shaping their fields, advancing knowledge and creating impact around the world.

Recently, Curtin University Colombo had the opportunity to welcome two distinguished academics from Curtin Perth, Professor Sender Dovchin and Professor Rhonda Oliver. Their visit offered a valuable reminder of the depth of expertise within the Curtin community, and the opportunities this global network creates for our students, academics and researchers in Colombo.

Curtin University is ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2025), a recognition strongly connected to the university’s strength in research and academic excellence. But rankings only tell part of the story. Behind them are researchers, academics and educators whose expertise drives the university forward.

What makes this expertise particularly valuable to Curtin Colombo is the opportunity to bring the knowledge of a global university closer to home.

For students, this means learning within a university environment connected to researchers working at the forefront of their disciplines. For academics, it creates opportunities to learn from experienced researchers, strengthen research capabilities and build connections across the Curtin network. And for Curtin as a whole, it strengthens the collaboration between Colombo and Perth, allowing knowledge, ideas and expertise to move across campuses.

This is what being a truly global university means – not simply having campuses in different parts of the world, but creating meaningful connections between them.

At Curtin Colombo, our students are part of that global community. They have the opportunity to learn from people whose work extends far beyond the classroom, while being surrounded by an academic culture shaped by research, innovation and collaboration.

Because the future is shaped by the people who question what exists, explore what is possible and use knowledge to create meaningful change.

And with the collective expertise of Curtin’s global academic community behind them, our students are not simply preparing for tomorrow.

They are learning from the people helping to make tomorrow better.
