Students are encouraged to sign up for online workshops to enhance their knowledge in study skills, referencing, conduct research using EndNote, citation software and how to avoid plagiarism.

The library offers a range of physical and digital resources, primarily focusing on core and recommended resources for all degree programs on offer at Curtin University Colombo. These physical spaces are demarcated as ‘library’ and ‘study area’ to facilitate quiet and comfortable setting for reading and studying. Cubicles are available for group discussions and designed to accommodate multiple users, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and the environment. Each table is equipped with power outlets to stay connected and focused with minimum distractions.

Borrowing Guidelines
Books are categorized as :

- A Library Membership is required to borrow resources. The membership can be obtained at the Circulation Desk by producing the Curtin ID.
- Books borrowed under the borrower’s name cannot be lent to another.
- Loss or damage to Library books should be borne by the Borrower. If misplaced or damaged, the borrower must replace the book.
- The replacement copy should be handed over to the library within 30 calendar days.
- If an identical copy cannot be replaced, students must pay the full cost of the book including shipping and packaging charges.
- Library Membership is non-transferable.
- Students must adhere to the return date. However, renewals are accommodated.
- The fine is Rs. 100.00 per day. If the fine exceeds a total of Rs. 1,000.00, the library membership will be cancelled and excluded from all other library facilities.
- Highlighting text or making notes on library books is an offence.
- Reference books are issued only near to examinations. These should be borrowed on or before 4:00pm and returned on the following day before 10:00am.
- The Circulation counter is open from 9:30am-4:30pm. Students are requested to borrow books during this specified period.

Rules and Responsibilities
- The Library and Study areas are designated for studies. Students should maintain silence.
- Use of mobile phones inside the library is prohibited. Notifications must be muted when in the library.
- Students should not leave their laptops and personal belongings unattended. Students must take responsibility over their personal belongings.
- Students entering the Library should leave their backpacks on the baggage rack in the Study Area. Writing material and laptops are allowed inside the Library.
- When books are taken off the shelves, students should not attempt to shelve them.
- Food and beverages are strictly prohibited inside the library and study areas.
- Students should be mindful to maintain cleanliness.
- Respect your peers and the staff. Misconduct will not be tolerated. Students will be asked to leave the library or the study area if the behaviour disturbs others.
- In an emergency, if the fire alarm goes off, students must evacuate the Library and Study area immediately by the nearest exit. Students must follow evacuation procedures.
- Stern action will be taken of students who misbehave, damage library property, steal library material, disrespect peers and library staff.
Library Membership
Students and staff can obtain free membership by completing an application form, available at the Circulation Desk. Borrowing facilities are activated upon submission of the form.

Monday – Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (off-peak and semester break)
Monday – Friday: 8:00 am to 7:00 pm (mid-semester examination period)
Monday – Friday: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm (during examinations)
